Assign a photographer

Taking a look at our web traffic today, I started thinking about how many Chronicle readers are living all over the world. Last month, we had visitors to Chroniclet.com from 122 countries and territories -- how ya doing Wake Island!

I imagine you miss this area enough to keep in touch, and that sparked an idea.

If you could assign members of the Chronicle photo department, where would you send them for a photograph? Let me know what area you would like to see and we will do our best to get the shot. Have you wondered what the mall area looks like these days? Do you miss the playground where you used to play? Did you have a favorite place to go for ice cream when you were a kid?

I’ll pick some of the good suggestions and post shots online for you to see.

Ely Square in budding springtime.

My memories of Elyria proper are mainly freezing my tukus off driving to work. Passing by the holiday light displays was always cheery, but it'd be nice to see some warmth and rebirth.

Send them to photograph all the vacant and rundown buildings on Broadway in downtown Lorain.

I thought about doing it with a video camera, but don't have one.

It would make a great documentary for the Historical Societies.

Bruce: I think some photos of the High School would be great, the inside too. With it being scheduled for tear down in the next few years, a photo documentary book or web site would be great.

I think it would be neat to see an aerial shot of Elyria from on top of EMH hospital or from the top of the blue water tower on Rt. 57.

Maybe a shot at sunrise or sunset......

My wife grew up at the top of the hill at Cascade park on West River. I'm sure any pics of the park would be wonderful. We have been in Florida for a decade and don't get back to Lorain County often.

Thanks

My mom worked as an instructor at the Elyria Academy of Cosmetology for many years. It was originally the train station. Would love to see an entire article on the history of that building (not to mention the downtown post office which was directly across the street).

Would also love to see coverage of Wellington Farm and Home. The folks who work there are old school customer service. It was wonderful to shop there when we lived in Penfield township.

And while you're at it, I spent my early childhood on Hollywood Drive, where we could see the train trussel (near Burns Rd) from the tracks. Would love to see a shot of that, as we used to sled ride on the hill near it (which I believe is now a private drive).

We're in Indiana now (our Avon, IN girls played Elyria High recently) and enjoy checking in on our hometown via the Chronicle Telegram.
Blessings,
